IS 318K Chess Team Wins Multiple Titles at National Chess Championship

Middle school students from Intermediate School 318, the Eugenio Maria de Hostos School in Williamsburg, have once again demonstrated their dominance in the chess rankings.

The young whizzes returned from the 2026 National Middle School Chess Championship in Texas with multiple national titles and team championships, according to afterschool provider New York Edge, which works with the students four afternoons a week. Students at the tournament, which took place May 15-17, faced fierce competition against some of the nation’s top young players.
